Meet the family behind Trip in a Van: Justin and Bec Lorrimer and their three adventurous kids—Jack, Billy and Charli. Back in 2015, the family made a bold move, bidding farewell to their home in Newcastle, NSW, to embark on an unforgettable journey. Their mission? Explore Australia, spend quality time together as a family and create lasting memories.

About TRIP IN A VAN’S norweld builds

The Lorrimer’s used to travel full time in a 2017 Mazda BT50 with swags up top exploring everything Australia has to offer. Their original setup with basic fibreglass canopy tub and a homemade set of drawers, while it was functional lacked what they needed in terms of storage, security, dust proofing and accessibility. Frustrated with the limitations, they turned their sights to Pro Touring Concepts and Norweld.

Enter Trip in a Van’s first Norweld build, a full-time Dulux Canopy package including drawers on one side and a kitchen table and drawer plus fridge on the other side. Excited to explore so much more being self sufficient enough to ditch the caravan, they embarked on off-road adventures to remote destinations like the Cape, Moreton and Fraser Island.

After a few years in the BT50, Trip in a Van had done all they wanted to do, so the next thing they had their eyes on was a tinnie. As their journey evolved, so did their aspirations. However, with their vehicle already at maximum payload legally, the next stage was getting a new build. Enter 2019 Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series GXL Chopped Dual Cab with Full-Time Deluxe Canopy decked out by Pro Touring Concepts and their Sunseeker Caravan! 

This newfound versatility opened doors to so many new experiences for this lovely family—fishing, snorkelling and bonding with their children in the most pristine Australian landscapes.
