Meet Wuelfpak Adventurers

We are a travelling family consisting of myself, Dan, wife Kac and son Henry. We were living in Perth for 13 years before taking a career break and embracing the open road.

Planning on travelling for some time, we knew that our Toyota Hilux and Camprite Camper Trailer would not fit our long-term needs. We began searching for a rig capable of towing a 4.5T Sunseeker Desert Storm ATX caravan, setting ourselves up for future adventures.

Our options were either a Toyota LandCruiser Chopped 200 Series, LandCruiser 79 or an American Truck. After identifying our priorities, the American Truck option stood out, especially the Ford F-350 with the larger GVM and GCM. There was no need to chop a perfectly good vehicle, upgrade the chassis and brakes, these trucks were built to haul!

Having chosen our vehicle, the next step was to look for good quality accessories that were available Australia-wide to fulfil our setup requirements. The ute canopy was a crucial factor that needed to be perfect. It had to be dust-proof, strong enough to carry our equipment and deal with the corrugations, feature quality welds, have a well-designed internal fit-out, include quality electrical components and support the weight of a rooftop tent, or in our case, a 3.8m tinnie!

We have been travelling Australia for 2.5 years now and have had the Ford F-350 with the Norweld Deluxe Canopy for 2 of those years. The Ford F-350 has travelled approximately 80,000kms so far, and use our Norweld Deluxe Canopy daily. We have taken it through some extreme places such as the Gibb River, Bungle Bungles, Tanami, Fraser Island, Tasmania, Cape York, Australian snowfields (Perisher, Falls Creek, Hotham), Arnhem Land and Ningaloo Coast.

We love the internal fit-out of our Norweld Deluxe Canopy; it is functional, spacious, easy to use and works really well. The additional space at the end of the canopy is perfect for storing the outboard motor for the tinnie, rods, and spear guns. Combined with the Redarc electrical components, Bushman’s Fridge and 58L poly water tank, it makes day trips or a few overnight trips away from the caravan a breeze.
