Tom’s Brook Farm John Carmody’s Deluxe Plus Tray
We would like you to meet John Carmody, the hard working Aussie farmer at Tom’s Brook Farm.
Located near Cascade in beautiful Western Australia, John, together with his wife Rhiannon and two kids, own a 4,500 hectare broadacre farm growing wheat, barley and canola on sandy loam soils.
The rest of the world can share a glimpse of life on the family property through John’s popular YouTube channel ‘Tom’s Brook Farm’ – packed with plenty of farm work drama, equipment maintenance, seeding and harvest tips as well as awesome family moments that make property-life so unique.
When it comes to getting around and to keep things moving, John relies on two Norweld Deluxe Plus Trays fitted to his RAM 1500 Laramie and farm-employee Henry’s Ford Ranger V6.
It’s April and therefore seeding is in full swing, so John’s doesn’t have time for gear that doesn’t step up to the job. That’s why he chose to put a Norweld on the back – he liked that the team built trays and canopies only and trused the team ‘knew their stuff’.
“These trays are tough as nails, built to handle the rough stuff. And after all the hard work is done and we wash it, it still looks great – no dents, no scratches – no issues at all” John said.
ABOUT JOHN CARMODY’S DELUXE PLUS TRAY
The Deluxe Plus Tray has been a game-changer on the farm. From the stainless steel capping that runs along the top of the sideboards that protects the paint from scratching when he’s throwing in hoses, chains and ladders, to the 1200mm rear trundle drawer packed full of Milwaukee tools, everything has its place and just works. He also added that when he uses it, it stays smooth even when fully loaded, something his old setup couldn’t manage.
John also rates the dust and water protection in the under-tray toolboxes, something that’s been tested after travelling thousands of kms across rough paddocks. Thanks to Norweld’s gutter system and double rubber seals—his tools and other essentials stay clean, dry and in good condition.
John’s heavy-duty aluminium tray handles rough farm tracks without any dramas, keeping solid and rattle-free, regardless of what’s loaded in the back.
“The tray holds up really well, especially when dragging chains or moving hoses—a common task around the farm. And there’s no rattling—nothing comes loose. It’s solid,” he says.
Even the under-tray water tank gets a good workout, perfect for washing off grease or dirt after a long day in the paddock. It’s a small detail, but one that he says makes life so much easier.
Both ute trays are in constant use throughout the season – one supporting seeding operations and the other running between the workshop and paddocks and general farm maintenance duties.
