THE OPPORTUNITY
Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Yardperson to join our Cairns team. You’ll enjoy a great work/life balance with a 4-day week and no weekend work, in a new, clean work environment. The role will involve supporting the stores’ management, which includes daily maintenance and upkeep of workshop areas, dispatch/receiving and distribution of incoming stock to work areas. The physical requirements of the role include heavy lifting, machinery operation, and other manual duties.
You will maintain a high level of safety, reliability and operational performance to ensure customer satisfaction.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised yard and store room
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing goods, stock and completed builds
- Check goods inwards, receipt and inspection of deliveries
- Assist with pre-start checks of plant and machinery, and maintenance of tools and equipment as required
- Assist where required with stock and inventory management
- Assist with operations related issues as required, including maintenance of plant, machinery and tools or organising servicing and repairs where required
- Distribute aluminium stock and parts to the fabricators throughout the workshops
- Maintain effective workflow and clear access through the workshops and yard areas
- Fill/decant LPG bottles (when qualified to do so)
- Deliver and drop off items, including trips to dispose of scrap steel and timber at recycling facilities
- Perform end of day shut down activities
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a similar role (desirable)
- Current licenses and certificates (including Australian Manual Drivers Licence and Forklift ticket)
- Strong, ongoing commitment to workplace health & safety
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-skilled team environment
- Sound knowledge of 4×4 Makes, Models and popular accessories and brands (desirable)
- Passion for the outdoors, off-roading and camping is a plus!
